Google's artificial intelligence (AI) assistant Gemini has introduced a new StoryBook feature that lets users create personalised, illustrated storybooks with narration, aimed at families with young children.

Through this feature, users can describe any story idea in a single prompt, and Gemini creates a 10-page storybook with custom AI-generated art and audio narration.

The feature supports more than 45 languages and offers a range of visual styles, including pixel art, comics, claymation, crochet, and colouring books. For narration, one can also choose between a higher-pitched voice and a lower-pitched voice.

For example, one can say 'Create a storybook that explains the solar system to my 5-year-old, following which Gemini generates a book and displays it in a dual-column interface, with the storybook appearing on the right. The chat window on the left allows users to further customise the story, adjust the visuals, or recreate the book in a different language.
