Video shows blast near Frontier Corps headquarters in Pakistan's Quetta, at least 10 dead

At least 10 people lost their lives and 32 others sustained injuries after a powerful explosion rocked a busy street near the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, on Tuesday, according to a report by Dawn.

Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar confirmed the death toll, saying that all of the injured had been shifted to Civil Hospital for treatment. However, police officials stated that only eight bodies had been brought to the Civil Hospital after the blast.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Special Operations Quetta, Muhammad Baloch, explained that the incident occurred “when a vehicle turned from Model Town towards Hali Road, near the FC headquarters.” According to Dawn, both television and social media footage documented the moment the explosion ripped through the area.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack and called it a “terrorist attack.” He said, “The terrorists cannot weaken the nation’s resolve through cowardly acts,” while adding that security forces responded immediately and managed to kill four assailants. In a statement posted on social media platform X, he further remarked, “The terrorists cannot weaken the nation’s resolve through cowardly acts. The sacrifices of the people and security forces will not go in vain. We remain committed to making Balochistan peaceful and secure. I express solidarity with the families of the martyrs, pray for the elevation of their ranks, and for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

Later, while addressing an event in Quetta, Bugti stated that “an operation against the terrorists is underway.”
