The British establishment and the monarch staged a pageantry-packed ceremony to bestow upon Trump a sort of royal welcome that he has imagined for a long time. The opulent state dinner on Wednesday night at St. George's Hall was the highlight of the visit, symbolizing continuity in US-UK ties and the soft power of the monarchy on the world stage, the New York Times writes.

The fifteen-foot-dining table stretched an impressive 155 feet down the hallway, laden with crystal, fine china, and gleaming silverware. To the right of the secretary of state was Secretary of State Marco Rubio and King Charles III, to their right was President Trump and Catherine, Princess of Wales, a little ways down the line. Across from them stood Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Queen Camilla, Melania Trump, and Prince William. Guests from the royal family, politics, and business joined the event. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, News Corp's Rupert Murdoch, Apple executive Tim Cook, and OpenAI boss Sam Altman were present. Approximately 100 employees organized the service for 160 special guests.
