UK Police Says Manchester Synagogue Attack Being Treated As 'Terrorism'

The attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester has been declared a "terrorist incident," Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, head of counter-terrorism policing, confirmed.

Two people were killed and a suspect was shot dead by police during a stabbing and car attack on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur on Thursday. Three members of the public remain in serious condition.

Armed officers responded swiftly, and a major incident was declared. Bomb disposal experts were deployed to the scene. The Metropolitan Police Counter-Terrorism Command also confirmed two arrests in connection with the attack, which is now being treated as a counter-terrorism investigation.
