Tucked away just 25 kilometres from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, Bhedaghat is a place where nature has carved out one of India’s most striking landscapes. Towering marble cliffs, some over 100 feet high, rise dramatically on both sides of the Narmada River, creating a surreal setting that changes hues with the shifting sunlight.

The highlight of Bhedaghat is the boat ride between these marble gorges. As you glide through the calm waters, the sheer rock faces shimmer in shades of white, cream, and pale pink, while local boatmen narrate fascinating legends linked to the river and cliffs. Evening rides under the moonlight are particularly magical, with the marble reflecting silver under the night sky.

Not far from the gorges lies the famous Dhuandhar Falls, where the Narmada plunges into a gorge, creating a spectacular mist that rises like smoke—hence the name “Dhuandhar” or “smoke cascade.” The roar of the waterfall can be heard long before you reach it, adding to the drama of the place.

Bhedaghat is also a shopper’s delight. The town is known for its marble handicrafts—intricately carved figurines, vases, and jewellery boxes make for perfect souvenirs. Watching artisans work with blocks of marble is an experience in itself.
