YouTube Music for Android has introduced a new feature that lets users search for the songs by just humming. This feature was previously introduced in other Google apps such as Search YouTube, Google Gemini, and more. It uses machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to search for songs.
This feature has made its way into YouTube Music and was spotted in its app version 7.02 first. The feature is called “play, sing or hum a song,” and it is similar to the Shazam app, but is better as one doesn’t need to know the lyrics or the actual song playing to identify it. It also shows YouTube Music's effort to use AI to improve the user experience.

To use the YouTube Music’s ‘hum a song’ feature, follow these easy steps:
In the YouTube Music Android app, find the search bar within the app, and besides the microphone icon, you'll notice a new waveform icon. This represents the ‘hum to search’ feature.
Hold the waveform icon and start humming, singing, or whistling the song you want to identify.
YouTube Music will then analyse the audio in the next five to ten seconds and display the matched songs.
A fullscreen results page shows cover art, song name, artist, album, year, and even download/offline status, as well as Play or Save to your library shortcuts.
This feature is currently rolling out to the YouTube Music version 7.02 or later for Android. Google hasn't revealed any timeline of when it will roll out for the YouTube Music iOS app.
