WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging platform with more than three billion active users worldwide, is testing a new functionality to help users react quickly to images or videos shared on the app. Currently, WhatsApp users need to long tap on any message and then six preset emojis are available.
However, WABetaInfo with the WhatsApp beta 2.24.10.7 for Android, has spotted a new quick reaction button that offers easy access to emojis with a new toggle beside the reply bar. You also get similar preset emojis, which can be also changed from the available list of emojis. The button, as seen in the screenshots shared in the beta version, will allow users to not leave the media viewer screen and react with emojis.
This implementation is better than the current method, where you need to either long press or swipe right to react or reply to any media. The newly added reactions button is available to limited beta testers currently, with more beta WhatsApp users expected to soon receive this feature.
The upcoming feature will reduce unnecessary interruptions on the platform while viewing any type of media since the reply bar will be available within the media screen itself. WABetaInfo has also said that the currently limited availability is also because of server-side issues and should be fixed soon.
In the previous weeks, WhatsApp has added a bunch of new features, which includes the ability to pin up to 3 messages per chat, passkey support for iPhones, and chat filters to name a few.
