WhatsApp has kicked off 2025 by introducing a series of updates and features designed to make chats more interactive and engaging. The new features include camera effects, selfie stickers, the ability to share sticker packs, and quicker reactions.
“We’re always working on making WhatsApp more fun and easier to use, so we’re excited to kick off the new year with new features and design updates to improve your experience,” said WhatsApp in a blog post.
With the latest camera effects, users can choose from 30 backgrounds, filters, and effects while taking photos or videos directly within chats. These options allow for more creative and personalised visuals, enhancing the overall messaging experience.
WhatsApp also added a new Selfie Stickers feature. Users can now transform their selfies into custom stickers by tapping the “create sticker” icon and selecting the camera option. This feature is currently available for Android users, with an iOS rollout expected soon.
Sharing sticker packs has also been made simpler by WhatsApp. Users can now share their favorite sticker packs directly in chats, making it easier to recommend and discover new stickers.
Lastly, WhatsApp has streamlined reactions, allowing users to double-tap a message to react quickly. This update also includes a faster way to browse through frequently used reactions, making it more convenient to express thoughts without typing.
“We’re looking forward to introducing more exciting features this year, while continuing to offer private, secure messaging across the world,” noted WhatsApp in the blog post.
