If you’re flying in or out of the United States and still have a Samsung Galaxy Note 7, you might want to leave it at home. This phone is completely banned on all US flights.

That means you can’t carry it in your hand, slip it into your bag, or even keep it turned off in your pocket. It’s not allowed in carry-on luggage or checked bags, and airport security takes it seriously.

The ban was put in place after several reports of the Note 7 catching fire due to battery issues. Back in 2016, Samsung recalled the phone and stopped making it. But just in case someone still owns one, the US government wants to make sure it never ends up on a plane.

According to the TSA, “Individuals who own or possess a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 device may not transport the device on their person, in carry-on baggage, or in checked baggage on flights to, from, or within the United States.”
