Samsung’s TriFold survives durability test, breaks when folded the wrong way

Samsung’s newest foldable phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, has finally shown its face, but only in South Korea for now. While people in the US and other countries are still waiting for it to arrive, the internet has already decided to put the phone through something far more dramatic than a launch event: a durability test.

The test comes from JerryRigEverything, a popular YouTube channel known for pushing expensive phones to their limits. Scratches, pressure, bending, and all the things phone makers hope users never try at home. Naturally, the Galaxy Z TriFold was next in line.

For the most part, the phone actually does quite well. The body feels solid, the camera lenses don’t crack easily, and the outer parts hold up even when things get rough. It’s clear that Samsung’s years of making foldable phones have paid off. This isn’t their first experiment, and it shows.

But then comes the part everyone expects with foldables. The hinges and screens. When the TriFold is bent the wrong way while opened, things go downhill fast. The screen goes black almost immediately, and the phone basically gives up. It’s not shocking, but it is a reminder that foldable phones still have limits, no matter how advanced they look.
