The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to bring notable camera upgrades, but a new leak suggests this will come with a physical trade-off. According to tipster Ice Universe, the camera island on the S26 Ultra will almost double in thickness compared to its predecessor.

The phone will reportedly measure 163.4mm tall and 77.9mm wide, making it slightly taller and wider than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. At its slimmest point, the device will be thinner at 7.9mm compared to 8.2mm on the current model. However, the camera island will increase from 2.4mm to 4.5mm in depth, marking a significant change in design.

This redesign is said to accommodate a wider f/1.4 aperture main lens with variable aperture support, allowing the device to adjust to different lighting conditions. While the sensor itself remains unchanged, the wider aperture could improve low-light photography.

On the telephoto side, earlier reports suggested Samsung might include a 200MP periscope sensor. More recent leaks point instead to a dual setup with a 50MP long telephoto and a 12MP mid-range telephoto lens. Ice Universe has criticised the 50MP periscope for its relatively small 1/2.52-inch sensor, noting that rivals are already adopting larger 200MP sensors in their periscopes.
