Samsung is expected to launch its extended reality headset soon. Rumours about it have been floating around for a while now and have been known as Project Moohan. It appears that the company is finally ready to make it official. While an official release date has not been disclosed, Samsung has teased the device at industry events, including this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Project Moohan: What to expect
Project Moohan is designed to merge the digital and physical world, leveraging advanced AI and vision-based technologies. The headset features four front-facing cameras and appears to include touch controls on the side.
Samsung has collaborated with Google to develop the Android XR platform, the operating system for the device. The headset will also integrate Google Gemini, an AI assistant designed to facilitate natural interactions and navigation.
Samsung's executive vice president Patrick Chomet emphasised that the combination of advanced vision capabilities with AI-powered user intent recognition is critical for the device's success. He highlighted the importance of AI in ensuring an intuitive experience.
While Samsung has not provided an exact launch date for Project Moohan, industry analysts speculate that the device could be unveiled later this year. Samsung is expected to share more details in the coming months as competition in the XR space intensifies.
During its January Galaxy S25 series launch, Samsung hinted at future products, including a trifold smartphone and the Project Moohan headset. Additionally, the company showcased a concept for smart glasses, suggesting a potential evolution of its XR product line beyond traditional headsets.
