Sony has announced that all PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional five days of service following a global outage that halted the PlayStation Network (PSN) for approximately 18 hours over the weekend. In a statement given by the Japanese electronics and gaming firm, it was confirmed that network services had been fully restored, after gamers and PS users posted complaints on social media and various forums.

In a social media post on X, the Japanese gaming giant stated, "Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience." However, the company has not specified the cause of the outage yet.

Moreover, the outage had a significant impact on users across key PlayStation regions, including the United States and the United Kingdom. According to Downdetector, a platform that monitors service interruptions, nearly 8,000 users in the U.S. and over 7,300 in the U.K. reported PSN connectivity issues during the weekend.
