Perplexity’s Comet browser set for mobile debut, pre-orders open on Play Store

Perplexity is gearing up for a major expansion of its AI browser Comet, with CEO Aravind Srinivas confirming that the product is now available for pre-order on the Google Play Store. A wider rollout to mobile is imminent, giving Android users early access to what Srinivas described as “the most widely deployed personal and agentic product in the world right now.”

The announcement comes on the heels of a significant milestone: over one million people received Comet access in a single morning, highlighting the pace at which the product is scaling. Srinivas, in a post on X, revealed "More than a million people got Comet access this morning. The most widely deployed personal and agentic product in the world right now."

Built as a next-generation AI browser, Comet integrates search, chat, and agent-like functions into a single interface, aiming to replace traditional search engines with more contextual, conversational results.

Srinivas has pitched Comet not just as another browser, but as a personal AI tool that can anticipate and act on user needs across tabs, documents, and services. That positioning comes at a time when incumbents like Google and Microsoft are deeply embedding AI into Chrome, Edge, and their search products.
