GPT-Next was first introduced by OpenAI at an event in Paris in May. GPT-Next is expected to succeed GPT-4, with promises of significantly improved multimodal capabilities and smarter training methods, boosting AI functionality. Now, at the KDDI Summit 2024, OpenAI Japan CEO, Tadao Nagasaki revealed that GPT-Next is coming soon, and it will be 100 times better than GPT-4.
Recently, Open AI’s CEO Sam Altman, also teased Project Strawberry, which was earlier also known as the Project Q-star. Project Strawberry is believed to be OpenAI’s push to create Artificial General Intelligence. Additionally, it will have enhanced performance attributed to improvements in the model's architecture rather than relying heavily on vast computing resources to provide users with better answers to their queries.
At the summit, Nagasaki also revealed that ChatGPT now has more than 200 million active users globally. He highlighted the exponential progress the company has made in AI research and emphasized OpenAI's commitment to accelerating AI into everyone’s daily lives. In discussing the past GPT series of language models, Nagasaki teased GPT-Next as being a major leap forward compared to GPT-3 and GPT-4.
While introducing GPT4o in May this year, OpenAI CTO Mira Murati informed that the GPT4o is 2x faster, 50% cheaper, and has 5x higher rate limits compared to GPT 4 Turbo. So, a 100x improvement in GPT-Next would certainly revolutionize the AI world. It also promises to offer users a more advanced and intelligent ChatGPT experience.
