The OnePlus Nord 5 is set to launch on July 8, but ahead of its big debut, key camera details have surfaced online and it looks like OnePlus is going all in on photography this time.
According to the latest leaks, the Nord 5 will feature a 50MP Sony LYT700 main camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation), paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens. On the front, you’ll get a 50MP Samsung JN5 selfie camera with autofocus, which is a major step up from previous Nord phones. What’s more, both the front and rear cameras will support 4K video recording at 60 frames per second, which is impressive for a mid-range device.
But the upgrades don’t stop at the cameras. The Nord 5 is also expected to come with a large 6.83-inch flat OLED display, offering 1.5K resolution and a super-smooth 144Hz refresh rate. The design includes a glass back, IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, and what’s being called a “Plus Key”, possibly a new customizable button.
Under the hood, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, promising flagship-level performance. Battery life should be strong too, with the phone said to pack close to 7000mAh, which is massive. The only slightly underwhelming bit? The plastic frame, which might not feel as premium as metal.
With all these specs, the OnePlus Nord 5 is shaping up to be a serious contender in the upper mid-range segment. If the price is right, it could be one of the most well-rounded phones OnePlus has launched in the Nord series yet.
