OnePlus announces OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 with new AI features and improved performance: Eligible devices, and more

OnePlus has officially announced OxygenOS 16, its next major software version built on Android 16. The update introduces a host of AI-powered features, faster system performance, and deeper cross-device connectivity. The OnePlus 15 will be the first smartphone to launch with OxygenOS 16 out of the box.

AI features
OxygenOS 16 introduces Plus Mind, OnePlus’s new personal intelligence system that learns user habits and organizes content in Mind Space, a central hub for screenshots, notes, and reminders. Users can trigger Plus Mind using the new Plus Key or a three-finger swipe gesture. It can recognize contextual information — such as dates or addresses in images — and suggest relevant actions like calendar entries.

The system also integrates Google Gemini for personalized, context-aware assistance. Gemini can pull information from Mind Space to generate tailored results — for instance, creating a home decor plan using saved images or notes.

Productivity and creativity tools
The new AI Efficiency Suite includes AI Writer for generating text, charts, and captions, and AI Scan for converting documents and whiteboards into editable PDFs. For imaging, features like AI Portrait Glow and AI Perfect Shot enhance photos, while AI PlayLab offers experimental tools such as YumSee (text-to-image) and Party Up (photo-to-video).
