Olympus is back in the camera business—this time under the name OM SYSTEM. The company, which carries forward an 85-year legacy, has re-entered the Indian market with the launch of two new products: the OM-5 Mark II interchangeable lens camera and the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO lens.
The launch comes just in time for India’s festive season and highlights the brand’s renewed focus on India as a key growth hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
The OM-5 Mark II is designed for outdoor creators who need a camera that can handle tough conditions. Compact and lightweight, the camera is splash, dust, and freezeproof, making it suitable for everything from wildlife to street photography. It also comes with upgrades like a redesigned grip for better handling and powerful 5-axis image stabilisation for sharp shots, even in challenging situations.
On the lens front, OM SYSTEM has introduced the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO. With a constant F2.8 aperture and a wide focal range equivalent to 100-400mm, the lens is aimed at serious photographers who want high-quality results, even when shooting handheld. It promises uncompromising resolution across the zoom range and works seamlessly with the company’s image stabilisation system.
Shigemi Sugimoto, CEO of OM Digital Solutions Corporation, said India is not just a growing market but a strategic priority for the brand. “Our vision is to empower photographers with cutting-edge technology and nurture creativity,” he said.
As part of its community-building efforts, OM SYSTEM has also announced an annual APAC photography competition starting this October.
The OM-5 Mark II, priced at Rs 1,39,990 (with a 14-150mm lens kit), will be available from September 18, bundled with free binoculars as a festive offer. The new lens, priced at Rs 3,29,990, will go on sale from October 1 on an order basis.
With these launches, OM SYSTEM is signaling a fresh start, carrying forward Olympus’ trusted heritage while building a future around outdoor creators.
