New OnePlus phone with shoulder triggers for gamers could launch soon

OnePlus could be stepping into the gaming smartphone space, but if you’re in India, you might have to wait (or miss out entirely). According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the company is reportedly working on a new sub-series of phones focused on gaming. The device is still in its early, experimental phase, and for now, it seems like OnePlus is planning to keep it exclusive to China.

What’s making noise is the possibility of gaming triggers—physical shoulder buttons built into the frame of the phone, something mobile gamers love for titles like COD Mobile and BGMI. While nothing’s official yet, the phone is expected to pack flagship-level specs, a big battery for longer sessions, and performance tweaks aimed at hardcore gaming.

This comes just as OnePlus is gearing up to launch the Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 in India on July 8, following the recent debut of the OnePlus 13s with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. But unlike those mainstream or flagship models, this new gaming phone seems to be more niche—and possibly limited to its home market.

Meanwhile, the gaming phone scene in India is heating up. Infinix just launched the GT 30 Pro 5G at ₹24,999, and it’s got some serious gaming chops—shoulder triggers with 520Hz response rate, MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chip, and a cooling system to keep things running smooth.
