Microsoft is finally launching a single ‘unified Microsoft Teams app’ that will allow you to switch between personal and work accounts. This new application has been in testing for the past few months, and Microsoft is now rolling it out for Windows, mobile (iOS and Android), and Mac users. This new version of the app aims to streamline user experience by merging work, personal, and education/school accounts into a single, unified app.'

In this new ‘unified Teams app’, a user can add or switch between accounts seamlessly by clicking on their profile picture at the top-right corner. It also allows to access all of their accounts by viewing the side-by-side windows on the app. While Microsoft still allows users to join meetings without being signed in, they now have the option to change accounts before joining a group meeting or room.

Previously, Windows 11 also had a chat experience integrated with the taskbar that was powered by the personal version of Teams. Microsoft later removed that chat experience, leaving two entirely separate Teams apps for either personal, professional, or educational use. However, the enterprise administrators who have set sign-in restrictions for their respective user base will have these restrictions respected.

For users who already have the Microsoft Teams app on Windows or Mac, the app will be updated automatically. Users can also manually go to Microsoft’s website to download the latest version of the application.
