Google has been working on AI search feature for Gemini. However, before the official rollout, Microsoft has started rolling out the new AI-powered search feature called “Copilot Search” for Bing, a move that mirrors Google’s ongoing tests of an “AI Mode” for Search. The feature, spotted by Windows Latest, integrates generative AI directly into search results, offering summaries with embedded source links while moving away from traditional web links.

Copilot AI Search: How it works
According to the report, the “Copilot Search” mode generates AI-driven summaries in response to queries, with source backlinks included within the text. Users can explore related images, and videos, or refine their search through follow-up questions, all without leaving Bing’s search environment.

The feature appears to build on Bing’s existing AI functionalities, such as AI-powered search summaries and the “Deep Search” option. However, the new mode streamlines the experience by replacing traditional link-based results with AI-generated answers, providing a more conversational search experience.

Comparison with Google’s AI Mode
Google has been internally testing an “AI Mode” for Search, but it has yet to be made available publicly. The design of Microsoft’s new feature closely resembles Google’s tests, but Microsoft has moved ahead by launching its version to some users.
