With the addition of PVR, DigiLocker users can now retrieve their passport-related verification details securely, anytime and anywhere. The feature aims to reduce dependence on physical copies, eliminate the need for document attestation, and streamline one of the most essential steps in the passport issuance and renewal process.
DigiLocker already provides access to various government-issued documents, such as Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, vehicle registration certificates, academic records, and more. The inclusion of Passport Verification Record further strengthens its role as a unified digital document wallet for Indian citizens.

How the PVR feature benefits users
According to the announcement, users can access their PVR on both mobile and web versions of DigiLocker. The document is issued digitally, tamper-proof, and can be shared with authorised institutions whenever required. This is particularly useful for individuals who must present verification records for job applications, visa processing, police verification, and other formalities.
