LinkedIn has rolled out a new feature that could make job hunting a little smoother — job seekers can now add their notice period directly to their profiles. The update aims to help recruiters find candidates who are available to join sooner, cutting down on the usual back-and-forth about timelines.

The feature is part of LinkedIn’s “Open to Work” option, which lets users quietly signal to recruiters that they’re open to new opportunities. Once you turn it on, you’ll now see two new drop-down fields: Notice Period and Expected Annual Salary. Filling these out helps recruiters instantly know how soon you can start and whether the role matches your expectations — without awkward first-call questions.

To try it, head to your profile, click on “Open to” → “Finding a new job,” and fill in your preferred job titles, salary range, and notice period. You can also choose whether to make your “Open to Work” status visible only to recruiters or to everyone in your network. LinkedIn assures that salary and notice period details are visible only to recruiters, even if you publicly display the “Open to Work” badge.

LinkedIn says the move is designed to make hiring faster and more transparent, especially in markets like India, where long notice periods of 60–90 days are common. Recruiters often struggle to align candidate availability with business needs, and this update gives them better visibility early in the process.
