iPhone 17 likely to get expensive by Rs 7000: 5 key things to know
Apple may increase iPhone 17 prices in India by up to Rs. 7,000 due to high demand and low stock, with rising memory costs also possibly playing a role.
The iPhone 17 launched in India in September with some useful upgrades, including a bump in base storage to 256GB. This also pushed the starting price up by about Rs. 3,000 compared to the iPhone 16. Now, a tipster claims Apple may raise the price again because demand is high and stocks are running low.
The iPhone 17 currently starts at Rs. 82,900 for the 256GB model and goes up to Rs. 1,02,900 for the 512GB variant. Tipster Yogesh Brar says Apple could increase the price of both versions by up to Rs. 7,000. That would take them to Rs. 89,900 and Rs. 1,09,900, matching last year’s iPhone 16 pricing.
If Apple does raise prices, buyers may still get some relief through bank offers or cashback deals. The tipster believes Apple might provide such discounts to soften the price jump. The main reason behind the hike appears to be a shortage of iPhone 17 units and very strong demand across the market.
Another possible reason could be rising memory chip costs, although this has not been confirmed. Memory components, especially DRAM, have become extremely expensive due to global shortages. Prices have jumped between 20 and 50 percent, with Samsung reportedly increasing some memory chip prices by up to 60 percent in recent days.
Higher memory costs are also impacting other brands, leading to more expensive flagship launches overall. The OnePlus 15 launched at Rs. 72,999, up from Rs. 69,999 for the OnePlus 13. iQOO 15 saw an even bigger jump, rising from Rs. 54,999 to Rs. 72,999. If trends continue, premium smartphones may keep getting pricier.
