After a long wait, Apple launched its iPhone 16 series just over a month ago. However, it seems that the popular smartphone hasn't been received well by the users. Previously, iPhone 16 Pro users faced display freezing issues or unresponsive display issues. Now, according to a new report by MacRumors, several users of the iPhone 16 series have started complaining about battery drain issues across Reddit, Apple Support Communities, and MacRumors forums.
Surprisingly, most users have reported excess battery drain even on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which has the biggest battery Apple has ever featured on an iPhone. A viral Reddit post suggests that their iPhone 16 Pro Max lost around 15-20% battery drop within a couple of hours, despite being idle.
Another user, who is using an iPhone 16 Pro, wrote, “I have the iPhone 16 Pro, and the battery is terrible – lasts about 5-6 hours of on-screen time before hitting 20%. It’s been a week of use, and nothing changed.” Additionally, there are also claims by users that they left their iPhone 16 fully charged and unused overnight but the battery still dropped significantly in the morning.
The cause behind this battery drain issue isn’t known yet. However, many are speculating that the latest iOS 18 update, which comes pre-installed with the iPhone 16 series, could be the main culprit. The company has historically rolled out minor updates to new iOS versions to address issues that have included high battery drain on previous models, and we can expect another such update in the coming weeks.
