Apple is set to officially release the iPhone 16 series today alongside the iOS 18 stable release at the ’It's Glowtime’ event. With this next iOS update, many Apple fans are anticipating the release of Apple Intelligence features. However, according to a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, certain Apple Intelligence features might be delayed until the official release of iOS 18.
The decision was taken by the Cupertino-based tech giant recently, and the Bloomberg highlights that Apple's AI push ‘will take time to pay off’. Further, Gurman notes that ‘Apple Intelligence is still not fully baked", and Apple will delay the release of its new image-generation features to iOS 18.2, which is expected to have a stable release in December 2024.
Apple’s image generation tools include a new Image Playground app and the Genmoji feature. Other key Apple Intelligence features, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT integration and Siri upgrades, are also confirmed to arrive as late as the end of this year or early next year.
As for which iPhones will be compatible with Apple Intelligence, Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the only currently available iPhones that will support Apple Intelligence, because of the A17 Pro’s chipset capabilities. We can also expect the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus to support these advanced features.
The Genmoji feature will allow users to generate custom emojis within the Messages app directly from the keyboard. On the other hand, Image Playground is a dedicated app for iPhones that will allow users to generate images or wallpapers using custom text input.
