How to transfer your WhatsApp account to a new phone in 5 easy steps
Learn how to transfer your WhatsApp account to a new phone in five easy steps. Follow this simple guide to move your chats, settings and account securely without losing any data.
Install WhatsApp on your new phone Make sure both your old and new phones are with you and connected to the internet. On the new phone, download WhatsApp from the app store. Open it and tap Agree & Continue to accept the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Enter your phone number Type in the same phone number you use on your old phone and tap Next. WhatsApp will ask for permission to continue. If the app requests a Wi-Fi connection, connect to your local network to ensure smooth transfer.
Scan the QR code from your old phone Your new phone will show a QR code. Open WhatsApp on your old phone and use the camera inside the app to scan the code. This connects the two phones securely. Keep both apps open during the process so nothing gets interrupted.
Start the transfer Once the QR code is scanned, follow the Start Transfer prompts. Do not close WhatsApp or lock your phones while the transfer is happening. If you use two-factor authentication, enter your PIN when asked. This helps verify your identity.
Complete setup on your new phone When the transfer is done, tap Done and then OK. Confirm your profile information, such as your name and photo. Tap Next on the Transfer complete screen. You will be taken to your Chats tab, where all your conversations will appear.
