Although Google has not announced the availability of this feature till now, folks at Android Authority have spotted the company adding earthquake alerts to Wear OS watches in Google's official release notes for the June 2025 Google Play services (v25.21) update. Once it is officially available for Wear OS watches, users will receive a warning when an earthquake is expected to cause shaking in their area. The alert will also show the magnitude and how far they are from the epicenter.

Depending on the severity of the earthquake, the alerts can also vary, with lighter shaking resulting in a simple warning that doesn’t disturb your current settings, while stronger shakes can trigger a louder alert with visual warnings, even if Do Not Disturb is turned on. This could give Wear OS smartwatch users enough time to get under a table, move away from a window, or just mentally prepare themselves before such a natural disaster, even when they are away from their phones.
