Google is reportedly introducing a new “AI Mode” to its search engine, offering a more interactive and conversational experience for users. According to a report by The Information, this mode will integrate features similar to Google’s Gemini AI chatbot, allowing users to access AI-generated responses directly from the search results page.
What Google Search AI mode will offer
According to the report, the AI model in Google Search will be accessible via the dedicated tab placed at the left side of the existing table like: “All,” “Images,” “Videos,” and “Shopping.”
Once activated, users will see conversational responses accompanied by links to related web pages. Additionally, a search bar under the response will prompt users to “Ask a follow-up,” enhancing the interaction with the AI.
Reports also indicate that AI Mode might allow voice-based queries, enabling users to ask questions hands-free. This aligns with earlier findings from Android Authority and 9to5Google, which discovered hints of AI Mode in beta versions of the Google app.

The addition of AI Mode highlights Google’s efforts to enhance its search engine amid growing competition from OpenAI and others. OpenAI recently expanded its search functionality to all ChatGPT users, increasing pressure on Google to refine its AI capabilities. By consolidating AI and traditional search, Google aims to provide users with both in-depth answers and links to explore further.
Google has already introduced AI-powered summaries for specific search queries, expanding the feature to more countries in October. AI Mode is expected to build on this foundation by offering a seamless blend of conversational AI and traditional search elements.
