Google is adding a cinematic twist to your still images. With the latest update to its AI platform, Gemini can now convert photos into dynamic videos, letting users animate scenes, add sound, and bring static memories to life with just a prompt.
The feature, available via the ‘Videos’ option in the prompt box, lets you upload a photo, describe the scene, and even specify audio cues. Gemini’s AI then generates a video based on your description—whether it’s a serene landscape swaying in the breeze or your doodle turning into a short animation.
It’s a feature that blends art, storytelling, and tech—and encourages users to get playful. Want your coffee mug to dance? A family portrait to blink and smile? Now it’s possible, all from a single still image.
This photo-to-video feature is starting to roll out for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in select countries. You can try it out now at gemini.google.com. The same tech also powers Flow, Google’s AI filmmaking tool for more advanced, cinematic creations.
Once the video is generated, users can preview, share, or download it to send to friends and family—no editing skills required.
