Google issues urgent warning for this Pixel smartphone, here’s what the company wants users to do

If you’re using a Pixel 6a, there’s something you should know. Google has just issued an urgent warning about a potential battery overheating issue on some devices and they’re rolling out a mandatory software update to deal with it.

According to a statement shared with Android Authority, the issue kicks in after 400 full charge cycles. That’s when the phone’s battery starts showing signs of wear, and to keep things safe, Google says it will automatically reduce battery capacity and charging speed through an update. The goal is simple: prevent the battery from getting too hot and posing a risk.

This update isn’t for all Pixel 6a users, just a subset of devices, but Google will contact those affected sometime next month with all the details.

The Pixel 6a, launched back in July 2022, has been a favorite for many thanks to its solid performance and affordable price. And with software support running through July 2027, lots of users still rely on it daily. But this news might make some people think twice about holding on to it for much longer.
