Google has announced a new feature within its word processing tool -- Google Docs. According to the latest Workspace blog post, Google Docs is getting a new tabs feature -- just like Microsoft Word. The feature is aimed at offering better document managed, especially long documents, via tabs.

Tabs feature in Google Docs makes organizing and navigating lengthy documents easier. This feature is currently available on the web editor and will help Docs writers to skim through documents easily, concentrating on sections most relevant to them.

How to access tabs in Google Docs

To use the new tabs, users can access the feature through the Google Docs desktop web editor by clicking the bullet point icon in the top-left corner of the screen. Previously labelled as ‘show document outline,’ it now displays ‘Show tabs & outlines.’ Individual tabs can be dragged around and reordered, and a hierarchy of tabs can be nested inside others as sub-tabs, giving you powerful control over how your information is presented.
