After its Android and iOS apps, Google Photos on web has got the ‘Documents’ section as well. To check out the new Documents view, head over to Library in Google Photos on web (you can find the ‘Library’ tab on the left side of the Google Photos window) where you'll see it added amidst options like Favorites, Albums, Utilities, Archive, Locked Folder and Trash. If you are not able to see the Documents tab right now, wait for the update to arrive.
When you click/tap on Documents, sub-categories of three top collections (for example, Screenshots, Social, Books & magazines etc.) will show.

The Documents section in Google Photos automatically arranges photos of documents in separate categories like Text Messaging, Menus, Notebooks, Book Covers etc. For example, any pictures of certificates, book pages or photos of news snippets from a printed newspaper will be automatically arranged under a ‘Document’ subcategory.
Similarly, if Google Photos finds pictures of handwritten content, it will put them under categories like Handwriting. Photos of food recipes will be organised under the Recipes folder. Images taken of books will be put under the Book Cover category. In a similar fashion, there are plenty of subcategories featured in the Documents section of Google Photos.
The Google Photos app on Android and iOS got the Documents section update in November last year.
