FASTag Annual Pass will start rolling out across the country starting August 15, 2025. However, if your commute mostly includes just one toll plaza, you can also purchase a “Monthly Pass” as well or at least for now. This pass is now available both online and offline, offering greater convenience to regular highway commuters.

What is FASTag monthly pass?
A FASTag Monthly Pass is a prepaid toll payment option that allows frequent commuters to travel through a specific toll plaza multiple times within a month without paying the standard toll charges on every trip. Instead of deducting the toll fee on a per-trip basis, users pay a fixed amount upfront based on the pass scheme applicable at that particular toll plaza.
These passes are especially useful for daily travellers—such as local residents, commercial vehicle drivers, or office commuters—who cross the same toll plaza regularly. Depending on the scheme set by the toll operator, the monthly pass may offer unlimited trips or a limited number of trips at a discounted rate.
How is it different from FASTag Annual Pass?
The FASTag Annual Pass offers 200 trips or one-year validity for Rs 3,000, ideal for frequent long-distance commuters. In contrast, the Monthly Pass is limited to specific toll plazas with unlimited or fixed trips per month. While monthly suits local travel, the annual option covers broader national highway use.
How to get the FASTag monthly pass
Registered FASTag users can now apply for a monthly toll pass directly through the IHMCL portal. Here are the steps:
1. Visit the IHMCL website and click on the “Buy monthly FASTag Pass” link.
2. Select the relevant toll plaza and enter the CAPTCHA code.
3. You’ll be redirected to the acquiring bank’s page, where you must input either your FASTag Tag ID or Vehicle Registration Number (VRN).
4. Choose your desired pass type and scheme, and proceed with the payment.
5. Once the transaction is successful, a receipt will be generated. Users are advised to download or print the receipt for future reference.
This process eliminates the need to purchase a new RFID tag. Your existing FASTag can be configured with a monthly scheme specific to the toll plaza of your choice.
Offline option is also available
In addition to the online method, FASTag users can still get a monthly pass from the toll plaza directly or at designated Point of Sale (POS) locations managed by the Acquirer Bank of that toll plaza. At these centres, users can request the available pass schemes and make the necessary payment.
Price and validity
The pricing of the monthly pass depends on the specific toll plaza and the type of pass scheme offered. Generally, the pass is designed for unlimited or a fixed number of trips over one month and is ideal for daily commuters such as truckers, cab drivers, and local residents.
