If you’re the kind of person who feels a little thrill every time you close those colorful Activity rings on your Apple Watch — good news. It turns out, those small daily wins might be doing more for you than you realise.

A new study by Apple, in collaboration with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the American Heart Association, reveals that people who regularly close their rings aren’t just more active — they’re sleeping better, handling stress better, and showing signs of healthier hearts too.

The Apple Heart and Movement Study analysed data from over 140,000 participants across the U.S. And the numbers are pretty impressive. People who hit their daily Activity goals were 48% less likely to experience poor sleep — meaning fewer restless nights and less tossing and turning.

That’s not all. They were also 73% less likely to have a high resting heart rate, a key sign of good fitness and heart health. And when it comes to mental wellbeing, those who moved more were 57% less likely to report high stress levels, measured by a simple four-question stress survey.
