Last year, Apple was tipped to launch the next generation Watch Ultra 3 alongside the latest iPhone 16 series. However, that didn’t happen and Apple hasn’t launched a new Watch Ultra in two years. Thankfully, the Cupertino-based tech giant is gearing up for a major smartwatch release this year with the anticipated Apple Watch Ultra 3, which is expected to drop at the company’s Spring event.
Apple Watch 3: Expected key upgrades
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has reportedly been developing a blood pressure tracking system for years now, and the Ultra 3 might be the first device to showcase it. While this feature won’t provide precise systolic and diastolic readings, it is expected to monitor the blood pressure trends of the wearer and alert them if signs of hypertension are detected.
Further, many rumours suggest that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will see a significant display upgrade, as the watch is tipped to feature the new LTPO3 OLED Retina display, which should offer smoother animations and improved visibility. Additionally, Apple might give the Ultra 3 a redesign with a new metal back to provide improved cellular performance and allow for faster charging. Moreover, the Watch Ultra 3 could pack a new connectivity chip, possibly the S11, and introduce 5G connectivity, which would be the first for any smartwatch.
Apple is also rumored to give the Watch Ultra 3 satellite connectivity support, which would allow users to send texts and emergency messages even when cellular networks and wireless connections are unavailable. Currently, this feature is exclusive to the latest iPhones, and this feature would be a great addition for outdoor enthusiasts who often venture into remote areas.
