Apple is set to introduce a live translation feature for its AirPods. According to a report by Bloomberg, the feature is expected to debut later this year alongside iOS 19 and will enable real-time translation of in-person conversations.

According to the report, the feature will work seamlessly with the Translate app on paired iPhones. For instance, if an English speaker wearing AirPods is conversing with someone speaking Spanish, the iPhone will detect the audio, translate it, and relay the English translation directly to the AirPods. The English speaker's response will then be translated into Spanish and played aloud through the iPhone's speakers.

Apple's move comes as a response to similar features already available on competing devices like Google's Pixel Buds Pro and Samsung's Galaxy Buds Pro.

The live translation capability is part of a broader software overhaul planned for iOS 19, which will also include updates to the Translate app. Apple is reportedly working on improving the app to support this new functionality, ensuring accurate and efficient translations.
