Apple has introduced its latest MacBook Pro models, powered by the new M4 family of chips—M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max—which bring significant performance boosts and advanced capabilities. These new chips, designed with second-generation 3-nanometer technology, promise both improved power efficiency and enhanced processing power.
This upgraded chip lineup features what Apple claims to be the world’s fastest CPU core, delivering high-level single-threaded and multithreaded performance, catering to users with high-demand workloads such as AI and graphics-intensive tasks.
Apple MacBook Pro: Price, availability
The new MacBook Pro is available for pre-order today, with shipping starting on November 8.
The all-new MacBook Pro (14-inch) with M4 starts at Rs 1,69,900 whereas the one with M4 Pro starts at Rs 1,99,900. The 16‑inch MacBook Pro starts at Rs 2,49,900.
The MacBook Pro lineup includes 14-inch and 16-inch models, now available in space black and silver finishes. The 14-inch model includes the M4 chip, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, and starts with 16GB of memory, providing blazing-fast performance for everyday tasks. Meanwhile, the higher-end models, equipped with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, feature Thunderbolt 5, allowing for faster data transfer speeds and advanced connectivity options, which are ideal for professionals needing seamless, high-speed connections.
Apple MacBook Pro: Key features
All models come with Apple’s Liquid Retina XDR display, offering up to 1000 nits of brightness for SDR content, and an optional nano-texture finish for enhanced clarity. An advanced 12MP Center Stage camera is also included, optimising video calls and enhancing the user experience. The new camera also supports Desk View, which adds a whole new dimension to video calls.
With a battery life of up to 24 hours, this is the longest-lasting MacBook Pro to date, making it well-suited for on-the-go professionals, claims Apple.
With a Neural Engine that’s over 3x more powerful than in M1, it’s great for features in Apple Intelligence and other AI workloads, as per Apple. The M4 model also supports two high-resolution external displays in addition to the built-in display
The M4 family’s GPUs bring faster cores and a 2x faster ray-tracing engine, catering to high-end graphic requirements. The enhanced Neural Engine and machine learning accelerators further boost AI workloads.
M4 Pro features a powerful 14-core CPU with 10 performance cores and four efficiency cores for a jump in multicore performance, along with up to a 20-core GPU that is twice as powerful as M4.
