Social deduction cum murder mystery game Among Us was a rage during the coronavirus pandemic. Developed by US-based indie game developer InnerSloth studio, the team-based game was popularised at that time by a Twitch streamer with 2.8 billion followers. Now, InnerSloth LLC and Schell Games are bringing a 3D version of the deduction simulator with first-person gameplay. Theoretically, Among Us 3D seems like Among Us VR’s 3D adaptation for laptops and tablets.
Among Us 3D was made available during the Steam Next Fest that ran for a week from February 26 to March 4. Although the Steam Next Fest has ended, the free demo of Among Us 3D is still available on Steam. You and your friends can still download it and try acing your game as an imposter or a crew member in the 3D version. Just log in to your Steam account and go to the Steam page of Among Us 3D to download the demo.
As per the developers, in Among Us 3D, you will “experience the core Among Us gameplay you know and love — tasks, sabotages, Emergency Meetings, and venting — now in an extremely immersive, 3D environment where everything (yup, everything!) is close up and personal”
Among Us 3D: Features
- Native Proximity Voice Chat: Talk with friends directly in-game without requiring any third-party platform
- New and Returning Minigames: The Among Us game tasks you know return along with new ones with first-person controls.
- Crossplay Functionality: You can join lobbies with those playing Among Us VR
- Customise Your Character: An “endless number of cosmetic customisation combinations” are available for your hats, gloves and game avatar skins.
Among Us 3D will launch on PC (Steam), but the release date of the game is not confirmed yet. Based on the player feedback from the game demo, InnerSloth and Schell Games are expected to polish Among Us 3D a bit before launching the final build.
