Amazon salaries revealed: Here’s how much engineers, data scientist and others earn in US as H-1B employees

Amazon reportedly employed around 11,300 H-1B workers in the US during the first quarter of 2025, as per publicly available visa filings. These records offer insight into how much the company pays foreign professionals it hires in specialist roles—many of them from India—under the H-1B programme.

While the ecommerce giant has a global workforce of 1.5 million, the visa data highlights what specific roles earn within its US operations. According to a report by Business Insider, software engineers, data scientists, and product managers are among the top earners.

At Amazon Web Services, a software engineer can make up to $185,000, while those working as software development engineers at Amazon.com may earn as much as $263,700. Data scientists can make up to $230,900, and technical product managers may earn up to $235,200.
