Bharti Airtel has announced major changes to its international roaming (IR) portfolio, including India’s first IR plans with unlimited data usage across 189 countries. The telecom operator has also introduced a new recharge option with a validity of one year, offering benefits both in India and abroad.
Airtel’s new IR plans now include unlimited data access in 189 countries, aiming to eliminate the complexities and restrictions traditionally associated with global roaming.
Recharge plan with domestic and international benefits
Airtel has also launched a Rs 4000 plan targeted at NRIs and long-term international travellers. The plan offers 5GB of data and 100 voice minutes for use abroad, while the same plan gives 1.5GB of daily data and unlimited calls when used within India. The user can retain their number without needing separate recharges.
Alongside these benefits, customers will continue to receive in-flight connectivity, auto-activation of services upon arrival overseas, and 24x7 customer support. The plans also include an auto-renewal feature designed for frequent travellers, ensuring they don’t need to manually buy new packs for each trip.
Airtel said these new packs would be more affordable than most local SIM card options abroad and would eliminate the need for acquiring country-specific SIMs. All international roaming needs can be managed through the Airtel Thanks app, including tracking usage, monitoring charges, and adding data or minutes if required.
