Adobe has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with AI video startup Runway, aimed at integrating generative AI video capabilities into Adobe’s creative applications. he This collaboration brings together Runway’s generative video models into Adobe’s creative software portfolio to create the next generation of AI-powered video workflows.
As part of the partnership, Adobe users get early access to Runway’s latest models, starting with Runway’s Gen-4.5, which is now available inside the Adobe Firefly app. Ely Greenfield, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President, Digital Media, Adobe, while announcing this partnership, stated: “As AI transforms video production, pros are turning to Adobe’s creative ecosystem – from Firefly to Premiere to After Effects – to imagine, craft and scale their stories across every screen.”
With this collaboration, Adobe is now Runway’s preferred API creativity partner, allowing Adobe users to access Runway’s latest video models, much before their public release. These models also promise to deliver enhanced motion, stronger prompt adherence, and higher visual fidelity. It supports dynamic and controllable action with strong temporal consistency across different generation modes. Users can also generate video clips from text prompts while experimenting with pacing and visual styles.
Both companies have also announced that they will work closely with independent filmmakers, major studios, agencies, streaming platforms, Fortune 500 brands, and global enterprises to deliver professional-grade videos. Editors and post-production teams can move these AI-generated clips into Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and other Creative Cloud tools for further refinement, colour work, compositing and audio integration.
