We may get a confirmation about a Destiny mobile game soon if claims by the Threads account called Destiny Bulletin are to be believed. Destiny Bulletin recently shared a link to a story according to which NetEase and Bungie are working on a Destiny mobile title called ‘Destiny Rising’.
Rumours of China-based NetEase Games working on a Destiny mobile title had surfaced two years back but there has been no official confirmation in the two years that have passed since.
But Jeff Grubb of video game database Giant Bomb chimed in with a reply to Destiny Bulletin’s post that a Destiny mobile game was indeed in the works and we could get to hear more on it soon.
“Yeah, this is real,” Grubb added. “Not a lot of people from Bungie working on it. It could get announced soon.”
When prodded by a Threads user for more info on the Destiny mobile game, Grubb said: “It’s going to be Destiny on mobile, but with a lot of changes. Hero characters instead of building your own character, for example.”
Destiny 2 - Codename: Frontiers
Coming to the officially released developments, Bungie confirmed in This Week In Destiny (09/05/2024) article that it will reveal updates about the future of Destiny on September 9, 2024, at 8AM PT. The update is expected to be about Destiny 2 content, codenamed “Frontiers” by Bungie.
In the blog post, the Destiny 2 Community Team says: “At the same time next week, we’re also planning to start our journey into Destiny 2 - Codename: Frontiers. At 8AM PT, we’ll be releasing a short Dev Insight blog article discussing our goals for the future of Destiny. Destiny 2 Game Director Tyson Green and Destiny 2 Narrative Director Alison Lührs will be guiding the conversation. Where have we been, where are we now, and where do we want to go? Most importantly... how are we going to get there?”
The Destiny 2 Community Team adds that next week will “mark the beginning of regular updates from our development team about what's next for Destiny 2, including details about its systems and future plans.”
