Abhishek Sharma has really been a bright spark for a while now. The left-hander from Punjab who is coached by ex-India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, made a lot of noise in the T20I series against Australia by scoring the highest number of runs. In five games, Abhishek amassed 163 runs and hence, he was given the Player of the Series award.
Yuvraj Singh, in an amusing kind of way, revealed a funny fact about his student, Abhishek’s emotional dependence on his cricket bats. He said that if Abhishek is one of the good things and shares in most matters, his bats are the most valuable things in his room. In Yuvraj's words, the young batter goes so far as to hide the actual number of bats he has.
“You can take anything from Abhishek Sharma, but nobody can take a bat from him,” Yuvraj said during an interaction where Abhishek was also present.
“Ye mar jayega, pit jayega, ro dega par apna bat nahi dega (He will fight for it, even cry, but won’t give away his bat). Even if he has 10 bats, he’ll still say, I only have two. He took all my bats, but he gives his own,” Yuvraj added.
Yuvraj summed it up perfectly, joking, “You can take anything from Abhishek Sharma, but nobody can take a bat from him. He’ll fight for it, maybe even cry, but he won’t give you a single one. Even if he has 10 bats, he’ll still say, I only have two!”
