It is unlikely that Digvesh Singh Rathi — known for his signature "tick the notebook" celebration after taking a wicket, which has previously earned him fines and even a one-match suspension in the IPL — would repeat the gesture if he were to dismiss legendary batter Virat Kohli.
Before the last IPL 2025 league game between the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Digvesh Rathi of LSG was questioned, "Agla number kiska? (Whose number is next?)."
The moment the fans assembled to observe Digvesh up close, they began chanting Virat Kohli's name. The leg-spinner indicated that he would not like to check Kohli's name in the notebook with a bashful smile and a slight shake of his head.
Digvesh has taken 14 wickets at an economy rate of 8.19 in 12 games, making him the standout player in an otherwise ordinary season for LSG. Digvesh's "tick the notebook" celebration after dismissing a batter grabbed everyone's attention, in addition to his Narine-like run-up and high-arm delivery that made batters' lives difficult.
Despite receiving two fines and a warning from the BCCI for violating the IPL Code of Conduct for the notebook celebration, the Delhi man refused to stop. He not only ticked Abhishek Sharma's name in the notebook celebration in his last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad by dismissing the explosive opener, but he also got into a furious altercation with him.

The match referee awarded him five demerit points for what he considered to be his third Level 1 offense. A player who receives five demerits on top of their quota faces a one-match suspension under the IPL Code of Conduct.
The first encounter between LSG and RCB this season will pit Digvesh against Kohli for the first time in his career. Since LSG has failed to make it to the playoffs, Digvesh will have just one chance to dismiss Kohli, who is now retired from Test cricket.

His celebrations usually follow being hammered by the opposing batters. In the game against SRH, it followed India's opener Abhishek's 59 off 20 balls, which included six sixes. The loss eliminated LSG's hopes of qualifying for the IPL playoffs since they were utterly overwhelmed by SRH.
Teammate Nicholas Pooran was seen lightheartedly questioning Digvesh about his fixation with the notebook celebration in a social media video that LSG shared earlier in the season.
His answer?
"Because I am from Delhi."
