BCCI announces additional Rs 7.5 lakh match fee for IPL players

BCCI announces Rs 7.5 lakh match fee for IPL players from 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on September 28 said that players participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will receive a match fee of Rs 7.5 lakhs per game.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah made this announcement on X and said each IPL franchise will allocate Rs 12.60 crore as match fees for the season. This will be in addition to the amount the players will get under their respective contracts.

Jay Shah wrote on X that this decision was taken to "celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances" in the Indian Premier League. He also mentioned that players would receive a lump some amount of Rs 1.05 crore if they participate in every league game in a season.

"In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the #IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount. Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season! This is a new era for the #IPL and our players!" Shah posted on X.

In the meantime, it is said that the ten IPL clubs would be permitted to keep five players and one Right-to-Match (RTM) card for the forthcoming super auction. The retention regulations are expected to be finalised before the 93rd Annual General Meet of the BCCI, which is scheduled to be held on September 29, according to a report in ESPNcricinfo.
