Einstein’s theory challenged as scientists discovered different types of black holes

The study was conducted at Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany. The team included scientists from the Tsung‑Dao Lee Institute, Shanghai, China. Findings were published in the prestigious journal Nature Astronomy recently.

What scientists observed?

The scientists made computer models that showed matter and magnetic fields in 3D around black holes. They also created fake pictures of the black hole shadows based on different gravity ideas. The method identifies subtle differences not yet detectable by current telescopes.

Event Horizon Telescope images are consistent with Einstein’s general relativity currently. Alternative scenarios, including exotic black holes, remain theoretically plausible but testable.

What this mean for future research?

Next step requires higher-resolution images of black hole shadows effectively. The plan is to add more telescopes and instruments in space to the Event Horizon Telescope. This could help scientists tell apart black holes based on theory.

These new images could either back up or throw out some gravity models for good. This study turns black holes into places where scientists can test physics in the most extreme conditions.
