Ayodhya is gearing up for another major spiritual milestone as 14 temples within the Ram Mandir complex are set to be consecrated on June 5, in a ceremony that coincides with the sacred festival of Ganga Dussehra, according to a PTI report.
Three-Day Festival from June 3 to 5
The consecration will be part of a grand three-day religious celebration that begins on June 3, organised by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. However, the preparatory rituals will commence earlier on May 30, starting with the installation of the Shiva Lingam in the Shiv Temple located within the Ram Mandir complex.
Temples and Deities to Be Consecrated
Out of the 14 temples:
Six shrines lie within the main precinct, dedicated to:
- Lord Shiva
- Surya Dev (Sun God)
- Ganapati
- Hanuman
- Goddess Bhagwati
- Goddess Annapurna
Seven other temples are located in the Sapt Mandapam area, where idols of revered sages and divine figures like:
- Sage Vashistha
- Sage Valmiki
- Sage Agastya
- Sage Vishwamitra
- Ahalya
- Shabari
- Nishadraj
will be consecrated. Additionally, a special temple dedicated to Lakshman as Sheshavatar will also see the installation of his idol on this auspicious occasion.
Vedic Rituals Led by 101 Scholars
The event will feature deep-rooted Vedic traditions and rituals, overseen by 101 learned scholars from Kashi and Ayodhya. Ceremonies will include:
- Worship of the Yagyashala
- Chanting of the four Vedas
- Recitation of the Valmiki Ramayana
- Traditional mantra path and sacred offerings
As part of the rituals, two-foot-tall marble thrones have been crafted to house each deity's idol.
Officials believe this event will not only elevate the spiritual importance of the Ram Mandir but also attract a large gathering of devotees, enhancing Ayodhya's religious and cultural vibrance.
Moreover, the Ram Mandir complex is also being developed with a strong focus on sustainability. 60% of the total area will be dedicated to green cover, according to Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The area will follow a zero-discharge policy, with plans for landscaped gardens, fruit trees, and shade-giving plants under a green initiative likely to be named "Panchvati."
Following the historic Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram on January 22, 2024, this upcoming consecration marks yet another important chapter in the unfolding legacy of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple. With deep religious symbolism, Vedic rituals, and a commitment to ecological balance, the event is expected to reaffirm Ayodhya’s position as a spiritual and cultural beacon.
