A 38-year-old mother from Sheffield, UK, lost her life after undergoing cosmetic surgery at a Turkish clinic. Kaydell Brown had invested £5,400 in a "mummy MOT" package, which included a Brazilian butt lift, tummy tuck, and breast augmentation, The Standard reported.
Despite her hopes for a positive transformation, Ms. Brown did not survive the procedure, which took place on March 26, 2024.
Brown's sister, Leanne, expressed her outrage in an interview with ITV, condemning the clinic as a "pop-up butcher shop." She was shocked to receive an envelope of cash and a flight ticket home upon learning of her sister's death. Leanne described how Kaydell had been excited before the surgery, but just ten hours later, she was informed of her sister's death while still waiting for her to return from surgery.
Leanne claimed she was denied access to Kaydell’s body and was sent back to the airport the next day. When Kaydell's body was finally returned to the UK, a coroner discovered that significant parts of her brain, lungs, and heart were missing. Leanne criticized the clinic for their lack of cooperation, which she believes could hinder determining the exact cause of death.
The Turkish clinic spokesperson denied any malpractice, attributing Kaydell's death to "known complications" of the procedure, such as fat blocking a blood vessel. An internal investigation reportedly found no fault with the clinic's practices.
A fundraiser for Kaydell's two sons, aged 16 and 12, has raised nearly £2,500 so far.
