Justin Trudeau’s announcement to step down as Canada Prime Minister is no real surprise to anyone. In sharp contrast to US President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff threats and taunts aimed at Trudeau, outgoing President Joe Biden expressed his appreciation for the Canadian leader.

Biden expressed his appreciation for Justin Trudeau as the Canadian Prime Minister on Monday announced plans to step down. According to a statement released by the White House, Biden spoke with Trudeau on Tuesday.

How Biden responded to Trudeau's resignation

"Over the last decade, Prime Minister Trudeau has led with commitment, optimism, and strategic vision. The U.S.-Canada alliance is stronger because of him. The American and Canadian people are safer because of him. And the world is better off because of him," Biden wrote in the statement on Tuesday.
